Reading available here: Gen 1,2

Unfortunately, I decided to do this project the day after Ted and I discussed this reading. That means while I can remember my questions and the answers, they unfortunately will not contain the poetic prose which could probably be used to describe Ted's writing. That, or, I won't sound as smart or be as thorough.

Anyway, on with the questions:

Chapter 1:
Actually, I didn't have any questions here. I wondered slightly what "each according to its kind" meant, but I personally assumed it was something to the effect of "many different kinds."

(Update:) Some discussion we had the next day:

Ted:
Genesis 1:26,27: although there are many other places in the bible, that is one good place where both the multiplicity and the singularity of God are shown.
"Let US" --> God is multiple
"created man in HIS own image" --> God is singular
The triune God (US) created man in HIS image which means man has a triune nature (spirit, soul, body).
All Jesus is is the physical manifestation of God, just like our bodies are the physical manifestations of us.
You have three natures, but there is only one of you.

What is the difference between soul and spirit?
Ted: (referred me to a detailed explanation he previously wrote here: soul, spirit, and body)

Chapter 2:
I asked Ted if the location of Eden was known based on the description, mainly the headwaters of the four rivers. He believes that it was somewhere in modern-day Iraq, and said that most Bible scholars agree with that location.

Ted also pointed out to me that it's important to realize that the term "day" in the Bible does not necessarily mean one solar day, or 24 hours. God's "day" was much longer than ours. The universe is 13.7 billion years old, not 6,000 years old.

Ted: "(look at) ALL the things that Adam did on the 6th 'day' of creation -- there is NO WAY he could have done ALL of that in 24 hours, and actually it would have had to be the 12 hours of daylight...half the time. Impossible."
